What is in bleach that makes in undrinkable?
what r u talkin about i drink it all the time
Doubtful.
Please give me a legitamit answer.
i do
bleach is the combination of chlorine and lye which both are very corrosive which react with the fats and proteins in your body causing that burning feeling. which is basically burning away your insides. in summation. dont drink it.
it dosent do tht to me it does feel worm tho
chlorine oxidizes organic molecules in your body
so its bad too drink right?
yep, i'll create reactive species within and yes kill you
more specifically, it will eat away the lining of your esophagus, stomach, and you'll literally be dissolved from the inside out
NaOCl, sodium hypochlorite.
so i'll die right?
we are not able to drink bleach, becasue of Chlorine we well die if we drank it ... bt there is bleach tht does not contanie Chlorine tht ppl use to clean water Dont forget to mark best response!!
you can add vodka to it to make it drinkable .:P
but all bleaches like @godgavemeyou said, give out Chlorine and nascent Chlorine. Chlorine is a strong oxidizing agent that will burn the oesophagus ang kill the cells. You can try to just breathe the fumes of chlorine and you get irritation and cant stand there.
eevrysinge person here said chlorine/// none received a medal! sad I give one to @davidjohn as he was the first to answer correctly
the question was "What is in bleach that makes in undrinkable?" and the answer--which someone already mentioned--is sodium hypochlorite. sodium hypochlorite is a strong oxidant relative to biological matter. i don't have a pathology textbook here, but I am guessing it causes oxidation damage to the tissue in the oral cavity and the digestive tract (like the esophagus), because it breaks down the mucus lining and the cell membrane of the epithelial cells. so it will hurt a lot from the tissue damage, but it won't necessarily cause death. as long as the tissue damage is not too great, the gut can regenerate its lining. even when we don't do something crazy to damage it, the gut constantly renews itself to repair the normal wear-and-tear of digestion.
The hypochlorite ion \(ClO^-\) is responsible. It makes the solution alkaline and oxidising at the same time. All other ions, \(Na^+\) and \(Cl^-\) are safe, they just make the solution salty. In certain processes of making bleach, it can happen that an excess of \(OH^-\) ions stays in the solution, which makes it all the more dangerous.
