please someone explain this to me:P.....Decide if the function is an exponential function. If it is, state the initial value and the base. y=5 the the x power .. y=5(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these are my chocies a. Exponential function base = 5 initial value = 0 c. Not an exponential function b. Exponential function base = 5 initial value = 1 d. Exponential function base = x initial value = 5

OpenStudy (phi):

by definition, an exponential function as the variable x as the power of some base you have to memorize this... for "initial value" I assume they want the value of f(0) (the value when x=0) remember that a^0 = 1 for any a. In other words, any base to the 0 power is 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what about y?

OpenStudy (phi):

btw, you could write this as y= 5^x use the uparrow to show x is an exponent. y is the value of this function.

ohh haha thank you
