To get your answer, all you have to do is "F.O.I.L." this. That means to multiple the first, outter, inner, and last terms in both parentheses. So first, you would do (4x)(4x), which = 16x^2 Then do (4x)(7), = 28x Then (-7)(4x), = -28x Last, (-7)(7), = -49 Then you would combine the like terms, and 28x and -28x just cancel out, leaving you with 16x^2 - 49.
