Because you have answer choices, you can plug in each answer choice to see which answer choice or choices give you a true equation

for example, say you had the simple equation x+2 = 6 and you had the choices a) 1 b) 2 c) 4 d) 6 Choice a) wouldn't work since x+2 = 6 1+2 = 6 3 = 6 .. which is FALSE, so x = 1 is NOT a solution, so choice a) is out --------------------------------- Choice b) wouldn't work either and here's why x+2 = 6 2 + 2 = 6 4 = 6 which is also FALSE, so b) is out ----------------------------------- However, c) does work x+2 = 6 4+2 = 6 6 = 6 which is TRUE So choice C is the answer to this example
