5n-1/4=-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want to solve for a variable just put in a form y= whatever variable you have y = number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1-multiply by 4 to both sides 2-add 1 to both sides 3-divide by 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

EXAMPLE 2X -3 = 4 2X -3 (-3) = 4 +(-3) ADD ADDITIVE INVERSE 1/2 [ 2X = 1 ] MULTIPLY BY RECIPROCAL X = 1/2 HERE IS YOU ANSWER CAN YOU NOW TRY THE SAME THING WITH YOU PROBLEM?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But x equals 7/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that you answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x-3=4 2x=4+3 2x=7 X=7/2

Directrix (directrix):

@oly.surf Is this --> 5n-1/4=-1 supposed to be ( 5n - 1 ) / 4 = -1 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@oly.surf : right ,X =7/2 Good job :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you may cancel you fractions EXAMPLE multiply by 3 3 4 --- = --- 1 3 it will now be 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Eyad I don't know how to do it with my operation, this is what I have so far: 5n-1/4=-1 5n=-1+1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can cancel out the the fraction if you dont like it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you just get bigger numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@oly.surf : is it like that ? \[\Huge \frac{(5n-1)}{4}=-1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[5n - \frac{ 1 }{ 4 }=-1\] it is like this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH !! In that case do the following : 1-add 1/4 to both sides ==== > 5n-1/4 +1/4=-1+1/4 it will be ----> 5n=-0.75 2-Divide by 5 ====> 5n/5=-0.75/5 it will be like ---->n=-0.15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it, it end up being 5n = -3/4 n = -3/4 divided by 5/1 n = -3/4 x 1/5 n = -3/20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iforgot : why are you confusing him ?
