if x is the angle subtended at P(2,3) by the circle x^2+y^2+2x-3y+1=0 then tanx=?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

tangent would give slope at the given point differentiate circle equation ... then tan(x) = dy/dx

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

wait, point (2,3) is not on circle ?

OpenStudy (dls):

It is on the circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would u give us a geometry of problem? :)

OpenStudy (dls):

The centre of the circle is (-1,3/2) you can get the radius too..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol...@DLS just Substitute the points in the Given equation it doesnt Satisfies..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(2,3) is outside the circle

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

Find equation of tangent. Find the line passing through centre and 2,3. The angle between these two is what its asking, ig?

OpenStudy (dls):

he is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cant even answer because the arc lenght can be whatever you want

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aaaah. i got it. Well @shubhamsrg said it all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thxxx..For thr hint @shubhamsrg i got it...

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

well glad to help ^^ thank you @DLS :)
