plse can any one prove this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how the determinant changes when row 1 is multiplied by a scalar x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you learnt about the relationship between row operations and determinant of a matrix ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then answer my above question: how the determinant changes when row 1 is multiplied by a scalar x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ax, bx , x(ax+by)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, that doesn't address my question. Anyway, tell me what you've learnt about determinant and elementary row operations, as you said you know them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If we apply row operation, we have to use like for example R1=R1+R2 and if we apply then we have to use column wise only

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have you learnt that if we add a multiple of row i to row j then the determinant remains unchanged?
