please help): im not sure how to solve this problem 2x + 1 ≥ 5 or -3x > -9

OpenStudy (nubeer):

have u found values of x for each inequality?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no im not sure how to start solving this problem @nubeer

OpenStudy (nubeer):

ok.. first take 2x+1>= 5 subtract 1 on both sides and then divide both sides by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i got 2x≥4? @nubeer

OpenStudy (nubeer):

divide both sides by 2.. this would be 1 value of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x≥2? (: @numbeer

OpenStudy (nubeer):

yup.. now solve for the other.. divide both sides by -3 but u also have to flip the inequality sign.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the final answer x<3? @numbeer

OpenStudy (nubeer):

2<= x < 3 this should be the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that answer? @numbeer

OpenStudy (nubeer):

lol spellings. :P well see the 2 answer u got x>=2 and other is x<3 so means x is greater then equalt to 2 and less then 3.. thats how i wrote that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay i get it, how would you graph this? i know the first would be a closed circle and the second would be an open one but which way would the shading go? @numbeer

OpenStudy (nubeer):

hmm lol my spellings plz.. |dw:1366298877884:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1366299084569:dw| we have to graph it like this @numbeer
