4(3x-2)=6

OpenStudy (aripotta):

distribute the 4 into the parentheses first

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so... 12x - 8 = 6 now the opposite of -8 is +8, so add 8 to both sides 12x = 14 and the opposite of multiplication is division, so divide 12 on both sides x = 14/12 14/12 simplified is 7/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would divide both sides by 4 first to simplify your equation to be: \[3x-2 = \frac{ 6 }{ 4 } = \frac{3}{2}\] then add 2 to both sides to get x by itself: \[3x = \frac{3}{2} + 2 = \frac{7}{2}\] then divide both sides by 3 again to get: \[x =\frac{7}{6}\]
