Projectile Motion - question.

mathslover (mathslover):

Please check the attachment.

OpenStudy (dls):

IITJEE !

mathslover (mathslover):

YES!

OpenStudy (jfraser):

Are you assuming that the projectile is fired at such an angle that would be the same as the position of the plank before it started moving? This isn't particularly complicated to solve, just will require a few pieces

OpenStudy (dls):

This is way too lengthy but interesting, just proceed step by step.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

start with the collision. We know that the impact must occur when the stone is moving at 45-degrees, so the x- and y-components of its vector velocity must be equal. The impact must also occur at a height of 3.0m from the ground, since the plank moves purely horizontally

OpenStudy (dls):

@mathslover Here you go!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNeQDSASrcs Just stuck me :P

mathslover (mathslover):

@DLS :P @JFraser can u explain with some eqns ? or with some steps...?

OpenStudy (dls):

@mathslover that video will explain this question?u didnt get it?

mathslover (mathslover):

I am going through it DLS.

OpenStudy (dls):

that will explain it clearly =)

mathslover (mathslover):

Thank you DLS, thanks jfrazer also.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

you'll end up with a system of equations to solve simultaneously, but I don't have it done yet

mathslover (mathslover):

Okey!
