Okay, so warning first, I have absolutely no programming experience and some (most) of my questions are totally going to betray that. To run a script, you have to save it, but whenever I save my scripts it loses all color formatting. Why does it do that? I've tried going to "configure IDLE" and selecting highlighting, but it doesn't help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you save file then close it and open again saved file still no colors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right. The colors completely disappear whenever I save it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the name you are saving your file? does it end with .py?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea! I'm saving it as a Python file. Interestingly though, when I go to open it (and I've saved multiple scripts at this point) none of them show up as *.py. They all show up as *.*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you add .py by hand? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh it worked!! Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i told you :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha, yes you did!
