How to start a research paper?

This is my thesis:
In Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, the setting of Chicago is characterized by conflicts between social classes, racism against blacks, and the effect that poverty had on families.

I would find a quote to use as a first sentence. One that will introduce your topic or give a little information about it.

A little more than fifty years ago, Hansberry wrote a play titled A Raisin in the Sun, which showed the struggle of a black family trying to move into a white Chicago suburb in the 1950s.

That sounds good. it is introducing your thesis and giving you the information you need to start your paper, and the info reader needs going into your paper.
