The answer in my book gave me x^4-8x^3+8x^2-8x+7 but i don't know how they got the +8x^2 part.

sorry i missed a step. its (x^2+1)(x^2-8x+7)

in that case this is the answer:\[7 - 8 x + 8 x^2 - 8 x^3 + x^4\] you would multiply the terms like in the picture and after you should get that answer
