If a quadrilateral is a square, then it is always a rhombus.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true or false :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thnk

@joannaxox3 As every Ambassador knows: OpenStudy values the Learning process - not the ‘Give you an answer’ process •Don’t post only answers - guide the asker to a solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok then sorry i forgot.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt it false becuse the dont add to 90 degrees :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the definition of a rhombus?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1366342927796:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. That's not a rhombus.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you should no that a Rhombus is a parallelogram with opposite equal acute and obtuse angles and four equal sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1366342982641:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a parallelogram

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BTW, your previous figure was a quadrilateral.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1366343048924:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a rhombus is something like this but mine isnt so accurate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still a parallelogram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All rhombuses are parallelograms, but not all parallelograms are rhombuses

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get what you say but when i see my picture i dont ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You don't what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1366343268387:dw| like this or not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both of these are parallelograms, only the top one is a (poorly drawn) rhombus. |dw:1366343319552:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just did that. except mine isnt good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As I asked a dozen comments ago, when figuring out which shapes are what, you have to know the definitions. WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF A RHOMBUS?

Directrix (directrix):

>>> "a Rhombus is a parallelogram with opposite equal acute and obtuse angles and four equal sides" NOT TRUE

Directrix (directrix):

As @qweqwe123123123123111 says, go back to the definitions of rhombus and square. That is the key to the answer here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a Rhombus is a parallelogram with all sides congruent right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what google said :(

Directrix (directrix):

@Danny_Boy left for another problem: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5170bff0e4b0012aba7e556b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A rectangle is a four-sided shape where every angle is a right angle (90°).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sort of. A rhombus is a 4 sided figure with 4 EQUAL LENGTH SIDES.

Directrix (directrix):

" Rhombus is a parallelogram with all sides congruent right? CORRECT

Directrix (directrix):

Equally correct: A rhombus is a 4 sided figure with 4 EQUAL LENGTH SIDES.

Directrix (directrix):

Definition of Square, please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok then so a square is a plane figure with four equal straight sides and four right angles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So are all squares rhombuses? Are all rhombuses squares?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. yes 2. no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct!!! :-) Bonus: all squares and all parallelograms are quadrilaterals. :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha yay i got it so its true?

Directrix (directrix):

@Danny_Boy missed out on this valuable lesson.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it's true. If a quadrilateral is a square, then it is a square by definition If a figure is a square, then it is always a rhombus.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha thanks i didnt have this but it was pretty interesting lol thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem! I enjoyed sorting it out with you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me too. you just helped me prepare for the star testing lol
