5 ln x= 35?

hartnn (hartnn):

and you want to solve for x ? start dividing both sides by 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn so I get ln x= 7. What do I do next?

hartnn (hartnn):

ln means the base of logarithm is 'e' \(\huge \ln a=b \implies a=e^b\) so what can you say about ln x= 7 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn Where does the e come from? What do I put for e?

hartnn (hartnn):

'e' is an irrational constant. ln is "defined" as log with base 'e' keep 'e' as it is, don't put anything for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=e^7?

hartnn (hartnn):

if you want to find the numerical value, the you can put e= 2.71828 but yes, x=e^7 is also correct.
