The figure below shows a transversal t which intersects the parallel lines AB and CD. Write a paragraph to prove that the sum of the measures of angle 1 and angle 2 is equal to 180°.
I don't want you to write me one I just need help writing it myself :)
@Mertsj
What can you say about angles 1 and 3?
trying to think of the word, supplementary?
Yes. In other words, their sum is 180
And what about 2 and 3. What do you know about them?
Don't know the word but... Their congruent I beleive
Yes they are congruent. Do you know why?
I'm not good at remembering all my theorems :)
I know theres a theorem.. Umm opposite interior angles theorem?
If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, then the alternate interior angles are congruent.
Alright so 2 and 3 are congruent because of the alternate interior angles theorem.
So you know that angle 1 + angle 3 = 180 and that angle 2 = angle 3. So in the first statement, replace angle 3 with angle 2.
And get a list of your theorems in a notebook or something so you can find them when you need them. And learn the terminology. It doesn't matter where you are working, or what you are studying, you need to be fluent in the language of the activity.
alright thanks :) if I have more questions I'll tag you.
