cot 930 degree

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

use your Unit Circle :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pi/6 is what i came up with but its wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Rotation twice is 360*2 = 720 So, you can subtract to make life easier: 930-720=210 That is cot 930 = cot 210 Now, 210 is in the 3rd quadrant. I have just as well subtract 210 - 180 = 30 Let us start with tan 30. You should get 1/ √3 Since tan is positive in the 3rd quadrant, tan 210 = tan 30 = 1/ √3 But you need cot 210 cot = 1/tan So, cot 210 = 1/(1/ √3) = √3 Hence, cot 930 = cot 210 = √3

so make it a number that we can see on the unit circle then do the formula for tan correcct

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so does that mean sin 495 degree is \[\sqrt{2}\]

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, is the same as 495-360, or 135 degrees :), II quadrant or \[\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thank you. i think i got it now
