Describe in detail an example of an arithmetic sequence. Part 2 [4 points]: Show all steps of finding the 7th term of the sequence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly and describe how you did it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to do this because I dont :(...

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Where did this weird question come from?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What is an arithmetic sequence?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on ill give you an example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is the 7 thterm of the arithmetic sequence 5, 13, 21, …

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Give birth to another child every year for 23 years. Each year, count the number of children birthed. This is an example of an arithmetic sequence.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

How do you get the 13?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a specific formula I can getit. it will takea couple minutes

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Just look at the numbers you wrote down 5 13 21 Now think!!!! How do you get the 13?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get the thirteen by 5 + 8 and you can get the 7th term by continueing the sequence however thats the long way of doing it and the want me to use the formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the formula is on http://www.regentsprep.org/Regents/math/algtrig/ATP2/ArithSeq.htm

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Well then, you have to know what the stuff in the formula stands for. What does this represent: \[a _{n}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the number we are treing to get I worked thru the formula and got 53

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes. You are correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay thx :)
