Help with figuring out the surface area of a right triangular prism?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Surface area is the area of each facing. The facings are a bunch of triangles and rectangles. So if you find each ine and add them up, there you are! So what part of this process is giving you a problem?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

I have the triangle's area so that's 24*2, now for the rectangle do I do 10*8?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

and then itd be 80*2?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

|dw:1366503072406:dw| The problem is the front one. You need to solve the hypotenuse of the triangles because that is the second side of one of those rectangles.
