@jim @cwrw238

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from a quick look at your test it seems what you are looking for the median is the 50% yeah so it would be junior cause that inside that interval

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no u mean sophomore

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the cumulative is at 43.48 the closest to the 50th percentile

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im so lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but the 50% value you want is inside the interval the Junior grade belongs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Junior is from 43 to 82 so it contains 50%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats the median grade?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think so yes...but dont get confused that sophomore's cumulative is at 43..its the upper limit ...the junior grade is -inside- the limits of 43 and 82 so it contains the 50% that is the median

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand what you mean by the 50% i thought since the 43 was closer to the 50 it would be the median grade 82 is much further away

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to see all the grades as a distribution in a graph...freshman is from 0-4 sophomore is from 4-43 then junior is from 43-82 so its the only interval that has the probability of 50 ,because by definition the median is the value that P=50%

anyone else have any other answers? or is it right
