"4.8 tons of pig ovaries were required to extract 14.0mg of estrone. Assuming complete isolation of the hormones was achieved, calculate the mass percentage of estrone in the original tissue using value obtained/original value x 100%"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we first convert the 4.8 tons to milligrams 1 ton = how many mg?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just use the equation. value obtained is 14.0mg and original value is 4.8 tons. you want them both in the same units. type into google "number of grams in a ton". multiply your tons (4.8) by the amount of grams per ton. Then you want 13.0mg in grams too. so multiply it by 1000 (1000 mg in a gram). and use the equation.
