Boat can travel 27 miles downstream in 1.5 hours. The return trip can be completed in 2.25 hours. If the rate of the current is 3 mi/h, find the speed of the boat in still water.

OpenStudy (espex):

Going down stream you have the speed of the boat (b) plus the speed of the current (c) equal to the distance 27 miles divided by the time 1.5hrs You also have that same distance divided by 2.25hrs equal to x-3.
