The copper wire is cut into three pieces of unequal lengths. All three pieces of copper would have? the same mass the same physical properties different crystal structures different arrangement of atoms

OpenStudy (ash2326):

All three will have the same density but volume would be different. Can their mass be same?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@KaraDawn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think as long as the density is the same the volume can be different and have the same mass right?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

\[Mass= density * volume\] density= constant volume will change so Mass will also change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so. That rules out A. I dont think the answer is B because they are of different lengths. Maybe D?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Physical Properties depends on the atomic structure and the crystal structure. Physical properties- melting point, freezing point. These properties aren't affected by the dimensions of the substance.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I thought it meant the actual physical appearance of the wire. So then it would be B because just cutting the wires wouldn't change the atoms structure i don't think

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Correct :)

Thank you. I appreciate the help. Also thanks for not just giving me the answer. I mean thats what I wanted but this way I actually feel that I understand the content better. :)

OpenStudy (ash2326):

You're Welcome :)

the same physical properties
