How many different triangles are there, which satisfy the following properties: The triangle is isosceles. The triangle has an angle which is 40^∘ The triangle has a side of length 40.

Details and assumptions 2 triangles are different if they are not congruent. Rotations, reflections and translations of a triangle are considered the same.

OpenStudy (jack1):

hang on... 4...? either side a or side b is 40, and angle a or angle b are 40 so total of 2 possible sides it could be and 2 possible angles = 4 possible triangles answer = 4

OpenStudy (jack1):

either the base is 40 or the sides are 40, so 2 possible permutations there and either the top angle is 40 or the other 2 angles are each 40, so 2 possibilities there im sticking with 4 has to be the answer

thanks
