Find the value of x if the three sides of a triangle are 18, 11, and 3x + 2. I can't figure out how to do this! It's not a right triangle.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

THE value or the possible values?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THE value

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Well, that's not possible, there are infinitely many possible values of x, right?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Unless some info is lacking... do you have a drawing or something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yeah sorry ha. There is a drawing but I'm new I don't know how to post it

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

There's a draw button down there | v

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The triangle has all acute angles if that helps. And it looks equilateral

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Looks can be deceiving. Is one of the angles given a measure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I just want to draw it for you but I can't find the button?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No there is no angle given

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Underneath the box with the "Type your reply" there are three buttons Equation Draw and Attach File. Select accordingly :)

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Or you can take a picture of it and upload it somewhere.
