Syllogisms Problem: All buildings are rains. All papers are buildings. All dogs are papers. I. All Dogs are rains. II. Some papers are rains. III. Some rains are buildings. IV. Some rains are papers. Which of these follow? -->I, III and IV obviously follow but my doubt's about the 2nd one. When we say that All X is Y, then isn't it implied that some X is Y as well?
Yes. http://books.google.com/books?id=iiCEXgTB1OsC&pg=SA7-PA9&lpg=SA7-PA9&dq=I.+All+Dogs+are+rains.II.+Some+papers+are+rains.III.+Some+rains+are+buildings.IV.+Some+rains+are+papers.&source=bl&ots=krfdHT68p7&sig=Fq010NSfRT_q8ndhJy4Oxy3-Etk&hl=en&sa=X&ei=X2J1UYyHAvPE4AOTjICwBA&ved=0CDQQ6AEwAA If you look here, you'll see that it's #43, and the answer is that all follow. I would explain but you do have the right answer already.
So, I'm right? Whew. That's a relief because in a particular book that I'm doing, it says that II doesn't follow. Thank you! :D
