I think it's quite ridiculous that we can't discuss music groups and musical artists in the music discussion group section. That's just me.

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

Why is that ridiculous?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tanner23456 We can't discuss music in a music duscussion? I just want to know why thats not allowed if it has to do with music.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Well, that's the kind of thing that would generally stay in the chat boxes, and not get posted as a "question". Here is an example of the kind of thing that \(should\) be posted here: http://openstudy.com/updates/517445a0e4b0050fabb94063

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

Well, personally I would prefer the talk of other artists over poetry but it is true that this sight is supposed to be for educational purposes. Talk of the latest artists would only encourage a chaotic learning environment aimed towards lax methods of learning. I believe the developers intent for this section was for the discussion of music theory and the helpful critiquing of others creations in an effort to further increase musical education.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good point I guess. Still kind of new here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I concur with @bershmeckers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@RoxxisaUNICORN agree not concur

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can say concur

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KeganMoore

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol i can say concur and pm me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Although i do agree with Bersh, it is music discussion, and most of this isnt even questions!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

grrr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KeganMoore @RoxxisaUNICORN thank you! even if it isn't music theory, there is plenty to discuss about bands and song meanings. This isn't called "music theory" it's called MUSIC. I stand firm on that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u can talk about it. but people wont talk back probably

OpenStudy (tanner23456):

You can talk about the meaning of songs all you want but it's not going to help your educational progression in school. Which is the purpose of this site.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is not true either

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Most of the stuff that would be posted if this was allowed should go in the chat anyway.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Chat is more along the lines of random jibber jabber, it moves to fast and after a while peoople just call you out on spamming, or just tel you to shut up. I do not see a problem with anything Music related being discussed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah lol i hate chating on here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I came to this section of this website to help people with music theory, performance, composition, composition and analysis. If you have a question about your favorite band's performance techniques (ie. How did they get this type of guitar sound?) or lyrical analysis (ie. What do you think SoAndSo means by the words in this song?) I think it should be allowed, but otherwise is just a waste of everyone's time. I did not come here to read your poetry or watch a youtube video you might find interesting.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And yes, COMPOSITION IS TYPED TWICE BECAUSE IT'S IMPORTANT (also because I'm not perceptive)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are allowed to post poetry and your own covers or original work @chicobronson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is silly @keganmoore. Poetry is not music. Poetry can be used as lyrics, and in this context, if one needs help with one's lyrics, then they should be allowed to be posted. But if you look around, the majority of postings are not questions, just a "deviantart" style postings saying "I WROTE THIS POEM ISN'T IT NICE" If you want this section of the site to be taken seriously, it needs to be stricter on how one can post. It shouldn't be "HEY LOOK AT THIS" because that's not a question that can be answered and closed, which is the purpose of this site. If one wants to post their poetry, one should go to a WRITING SECTION, or deviantart, or facebook or the myriad websites for posting one's own poetry. Would I go to the WRITING section and post a song I wrote? If not, then why should it be ok the other way around? Why have subsections if you're not going to be strict about what can be posted therein? Thanks for being the recipient of my rant. I'm going back into the corner to pull my own hair out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Way to be mature. What is the difference between poetry and a song? The background, that is it. People go on Music to let people view the poetry, i actually knw of a lot of people who actually teamed up with someone to make their poem into a song. They need to loosen up the rules of this group so that it is more appealing to the senses.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Poetry \(n\). - Writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@poopsiedoodle who was that directed to?

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

'twas directed to you. I don't see music in the definition.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i said difference between music and poetry is the background...music is the background

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the music is what separates them...without one you wouldn't have the other @poopsiedoodle
