Select the right inequality for the graph: image https://imageshack.us/scaled/large/545/screenshot20130422at608.png

OpenStudy (mertsj):

First of all note that the first two say y is greater than. That is clearly false since it the lower y values that are shaded. Do you agree?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So it is one of that last two and they are identical except one is x-10 and the other is x+10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah that's all I was confused on because of that Absolute sign

OpenStudy (mertsj):

We see that the vertex is (-10,3). Which equation does that point make true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont know if the absolute takes effect. Does it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like |-10| is 10

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes

OpenStudy (mertsj):

And |10|=10 also

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is that last one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is has a negative sign?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Very good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats all I needed >.< no one helps on here except you and a few other awesome guys

OpenStudy (mertsj):

y=- |x-(-10)| +3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks so much

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yw. The negative sign tips it upside down and the vertex is (-10,3)

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I see now. Thanks!
