How long does sodium acetate last?

thomaster (thomaster):

Do you mean how long the hot ice effect lasts?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I want to do a sodium acetate "hot ice thing" like people do on YouTube and I just want to know how long it last cause I want to bring it to school

thomaster (thomaster):

The sodium acetate will crystallize when the exothermic reaction occurs and those crystals will stay crystalls for ever unless you add water or heat them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if I never add heat or add water it will never melt right

thomaster (thomaster):

so if you're making a sculpture or something it won't melt on the way to school :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay thanks so just wanted to be sure ;) thanks for your help

thomaster (thomaster):

no problem :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it will last 15 blocks

thomaster (thomaster):

but it's way cooler to make a sculpture at school :P to melt it just put the stuff in a beakerglass and put it in a larger beakerglass filled with boiling water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or in another words it will last about hours2

thomaster (thomaster):

It will last forever

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No ill show them what to do but I need a stove I mean I'll show the finishing product and just explain my project

Thsnks
