My name is Mary Jane and I want to be part of Student Council because I presume it will be a great learning experience for me and a way to give back to the school; as well as the community. I’m a shy person at first, but once someone gets to know me I am very genuine and fun to be around. I am also the type of person that will support others when they are in need of help, no matter the situation I am there for them; trying to do the impossible to put a smile on their face.
I am very responsible, trustworthy and honest, but most of all I am dedicated. If I fall down I get back up and try even harder to reach my mission. Once I have my mind set to a goal there is nothing that will stop me from reaching in what I deem. For example, on my trip to Mexico in December I wanted to make a change in the kid’s lives, I wanted to make them feel wanted and that they were in a safe place. For an entire day I dedicated myself to play with the children and distract them from their struggles, I also prepared meals for those who did not have enough to eat; that day I knew that I had helped kids but in a bigger way than I ever thought I could. A scanty action meant a lot for them, the smiles on their faces was a reward itself.
Being part of the PTSA and NHS, has taught me that there is many characteristics to a leader. A progressive leader possesses great patience and most of all confidence. Confidence is something I want to acquire, believing that it will help me be a better person. Communication skills is something I do accumulate, I try my best to communicate with others and collaborate ideas that we may bring to the table. I have really great placidity, and I work well with others at expressing/giving my ideas. I have many masterful ideas for student council, wanting to build up to be a “making it happen” type of person. Currently I make things happen, like helping compose youth groups in the neighborhood, but I know that I could be doing bigger things that will help the whole community; hoping to do that with the help of Stuco.

My name is Mary Jane. As a member of Student Council, giving back to the school and the community will be my primary focus. Via responsibility, trustworthiness, and honesty, I will accomplish these goals. Volunteer experience assisting struggling Mexican children has reinforced my commitment to helping others, while Parent Teacher Student Association and National Honor Society membership has taught me lessons in patience, organization, and leadership. By combining these relevant skills, I look forward to leading Student Council organization and meetings. Understanding the importance of effective communication, collaboration, and commitment to goals, the Student Council will develop into a powerful catalyst for student-driven change.
