If you dropped a class because you failed one test, you would be exhibiting the response to frustration called? A)Scapegoating B) displacement C) persistence. D) escape
We can use a process of elimination here: ~~~~~~~~~~~ SCAPEGOATING is where we blame another individual, or group, for our frustrations. Like how the Germans blamed the Jews for all of their economic problems, after World War 1. ~~~~~~~~~ DISPLACEMENT is where we take out our anger on something that is less threatening to us, than the real object of our anger. For example, I was humiliated at work, by my boss. I'm angry for that. But I can't take my anger out on my boss, can I? I could get fired! So, I go home, and I kick my dog. That is "displacement." ~~~~~~~~~~~~ PERSISTENCE is our willingness to concentrate on success, and work hard to achieve it. It's a personality trait. Our ability to keep our future goals within sight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ And that leaves us with "escape," or "escapism." ESCAPISM is a learned behavior. It's where we do something, in order to get away from something that we don't like. We do something that helps us escape from an unpleasant stimulus. Something that bothers us.
