The annual cost of agym membership can be represented by the function C(t)=300-5(t) where t is the number of years that one has belonged to the gym. If Jeffrey has been a member for 5 years, what is the total amount of money that he has paid to the gym over the past 5 years?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I may have actually just solved my problem...I was just doing the formula with t=5, but that would just be his 5th year's cost, not years 1-4. I'd have to do the formula for each year then add the total...I think. lemme try it.

Then plus 300 for year "zero" would give me my answer of $1,725

OpenStudy (kropot72):

So you calculated for the years 0 to 5, assuming that payment is in advance. On that basis you are correct. Good work!

I think i'm going to cry. I dont figure problems out often by myself. Well thanks for your presence! I'm sure it was the magic touch.

OpenStudy (kropot72):

You're welcome :) Now dry those tears!
