When using synthetic division on (4x3 - 2x2 + 5x + 7) divided by (x + 2), which is the top line representing the dividend? 4 3 -2 5 7 4 2 5 7 4 -2 5 7 4 3 2 2 5 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it looks like it's just the coefficients of 4x3 - 2x2 + 5x + 7 careful with the sign...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, checking...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's D then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's C. where did you get D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Annetta_Martin how did you get D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wrote my equation wrong :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, I see.

Another question regarding synthetic division...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When using synthetic division on (3x4 - 2x2 + 6x + 8) divided by (x - 3), which is the top line representing the dividend?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 3 0 -2 6 8, am I correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the dividend is what you start with, the divisor is what you divide it by, and the quotient is the answer, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, you are right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!
