Volume of this square pyramid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (nubeer):

Volume = area of base * height..

OpenStudy (nubeer):

sorry volume = (1/3) * base of area * height.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know I just can't figure it out. Pyramids always get me confused.

OpenStudy (nubeer):

ok .. first start with the area of base.. as u can see the base have each side 5m so its a square base.. so what is the area of square?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25?

OpenStudy (nubeer):

yes.. now .. see the figure.. u see the dotted line reach the top from the base... it's height.. how much it is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The height? 6

OpenStudy (nubeer):

yes.. now u have everything just put it in the formula..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25 times 6 divided by 3? 50

OpenStudy (nubeer):
