How can I get a better singing voice? I want to audition for the X-Factor next year and I have a good voice, I just need more help/tips. Do you have any?
wow the X-factor thats great. have u tried the "My Mommy Made Me Mash My M&Ms" method?
Best tips: 1: Sing from your diaphragm. A lot of singers sing from the throat, or through the nose, which limits their capability. Put your hand on your stomach, and breathe out forcefully like you're doing a belly laugh. You should feel a muscle tighten beneath your abdomen. This is the muscle you should be using to sing. The more control you have over your diaphragm, the more controlled your singing will be. 2. Since with your mouth open. Imagine your body as one big resonating instrument. If the opening the sound has to escape is closed, it's going to go out in any way it can, usually through the nose. With your mouth open with each vowel (AHH EHHH EEEE OHHH OOOO) your audience will experience your true singing voice. 3. PRACTICE YOUR PITCH. Pitch is more important than the fancy glicks and stylistic flashiness that singers like Christina Aguilera or Beyonce can perform. Everyone loves those stylistic things, but don't put them before pitch. Sit next to a piano, and sing scales note by note, verifying each pitch is close to the correct pitch on the piano. I can't stress this enough. PITCH PITCH PITCH. 4. Get a private tutor. Often, a singer will be less strict on themselves when practicing, and having the brutal honesty of an expert can be immensely helpful in shaking the disillusionment that many singers can have. Your friends and family will never tell you that you suck if you do. A learned teacher will tell you, and then tell you exactly how you can fix it. This is so much more helpful than thinking you're better than you are. I hope this helps! Good luck!
Also, practicing with an audience helps a lot. While singing is hard enough, singing in front of people can be distracting, and scary for some. Practice by singing in front of a camera, then evaluating yourself. If you're having fun with it, post it to youtube!
