first answer gets medal! Marci works at a bakery making cupcakes. Each package she sells contains 6 cupcakes. She puts 3 pieces of candy in the icing of each cupcake. If she has an order for 42 packages, how many pieces of candy does she need?

WELCOME !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did u get 84?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh-oh...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

she did 42x2

I got a different number. You have 3 pieces of candy in each cupcake. You have 6 cupcakes in one package and you need 42 packages so that is 256 cupcakes in total. \[256\times3\]=768 pieces of candy

each pakage cantains 6 cupcakes. 3 candies go in each cupcake. there are 42 packges sailing out. 6x42= 256 divided by 3 = 84 !

my teacher says frogbites is right .... ^.^

why would you divide by 3? there are 256 cupcakes times 3 pieces in each cupcake. your answer doesn't make sense @Jada<3
