OpenStudy (waheguru):

Is there a way I can easily determine when an expression is not factorable, such as 25x^2+70xy+14y^2

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, there is.

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Well?

hartnn (hartnn):

compare it with \(ax^2+bxy+cy^2\) find a,b,c if b^2-4ac is a perfect square, then it is factorizable .

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Is there another way, an easier way?

hartnn (hartnn):

this is easiest!

OpenStudy (waheguru):

But any way of multiplying the numvers and finding out because Im not familiar with ax2+bxy+cy2

hartnn (hartnn):

70^2 -4 * 25*14 how difficult is that ?
