Solve the equation sin(2t) + cost= ¼ on the interval [0, 2π]. Express answer(s) to three decimal places

OpenStudy (mertsj):

replace sin(2t) with 2sin(t)cos(t)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When I graph y=2sin(t)cos(t)+ cos(t), it comes out as a straight line.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It is not a straight line. Did you use a graphing calculator or what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used a graphing calculator.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You probably need to expand your range of values. Try -6 to 6 for the x axis and -2 to 2 for the y axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is still showing it as a straight line.

This is what it really looks like: https://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D2sin%28t%29cos%28t%29%2B+cos%28t%29
