under whay condition is the magnitude of average velocity of an object equal to its average speed...........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Velocity is the speed (m/s, mph, kmph) and the direction, correct? And the magnitude is the amount- so everything but direction if it is a velocity magnitude. Therefore, speed is the magnitude of velocity.

OpenStudy (john_es):

The movement must be a rectilinear motion. Check this for a graphical instruction, http://www.dynamicscience.com.au/tester/solutions/flight/velocity/averagevelocityspeed1.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

John_ES is correct..... a rectilinear motion with only condition that body should advance in one direction only( for instance only +ve x axis or only -ve x axis )
