temperature affects dissolved oxygen if you know what that is
it also affects bacterial and fungal growth
it also affects functionality of enzymes (though I don't think the temperature changes in a large body of water would make a significant difference here)
it also affects how much energy or insulation is necessary to maintain body temperature and whether cold-blooded organisms can survive
