Two pieces of silk have an electric charge after being rubbed on a piece of amber. What will happen when the two silk pieces are brought close together? A. They will repel one another. B. They will attract one another. C. They will transfer their electrons from one to the other. D. They will not affect one another.

A. repel , because both would have the same charge, both being rubbed by amber

They will repel.......In case if you do want an explanation then..... The charge transfers takes place due to "potential difference" between the silk and amber.Since we do not know value of exact potential differences ,we cannot justify the charges on silk as well as on amber. But through little efforts like using an "Electroscope" we can really justify charges on mark.

The result is silk & amber have opposite charges. However I'm little unsure about question's language.. I wanna ask whether you rubbed the 2 pieces of silk consecutively to a amber rod or you just rubbed it independently to different amber rods.
