I would say radiation as well. If I recall from my chemistry class last semester. Convection is a transfer of heat from a solid to a liquid or gas.

My answer as well is "radiation",but if you have kept the white hot iron in  contact with 
any wall which is of metal  as mentioned then conduction can also be the part of the answer
