OpenStudy (waheguru):

How can I find the step pattern from this equation of a parabola y=x^2+9x+14 I am able to find the intercepts and the vertex but is there any way I can find the step pattern

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Basically the "a" value

OpenStudy (waheguru):

The value of stretch or compression of the parabola

OpenStudy (phi):

did you complete the square ?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Yea

OpenStudy (waheguru):

I factored it \[y= (x+7)(x+2)\]

OpenStudy (waheguru):

and the vertex is (-4.5, -6.25)

OpenStudy (waheguru):

But is there any of finding a?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What is the step pattern? That's a new one on me.

OpenStudy (phi):

I would write it as (x^2+9/2)^2 -25/4 or 1/4 * (2x + 9)^2 - 25/4

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Its one, I guess my question was unclear but I got the answer
