Perform a glide reflection on point (3, -2) that is translated by (x, y) (x + 2, y - 1) and then reflected over the x-axis. What are the coordinates for the image point?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay... glide-reflection: Two steps... first, translate it... It's pretty straightforward... (x , y) ---> (x+2 , y-1) Can you do this to the point (3 , -2) ?

I got (5,-3) is that correct?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Yes, but that's not the answer yet... that's just the translation, it still has to be reflected down the x-axis... but that's simple enough, just change the sign of the y-coordinate, now what do you get? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so (5,3)?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Nicely done :)
