An experiment consists of flipping a fair coin 8 times. What is the probability of obtaining at least one head?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

At least 1 means greater than none. So find the probability of getting no heads, and then subtract it from 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be 2^8 , which is 256 then you subtract one from that because theres all tails, so you would have 255/256

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

the probability of getting a head is 1/2. You need to get that 8 times in a row, which will be (1/2)^8

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

So the result would be 1-(1/2)^8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is .99609?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Pretty much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i appreciate it man

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
