Solve the system of equations by graphing. 2x-y=8, 3x+y=-3

OpenStudy (goformit100):

First of all for solving this question do you know the conception of : equation of linear equation and graphical knowledge too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put y=2x-8 from first equation in second equation and then we get from second eqn. 3x+2x -8= -3 5x=5 x=5 and y=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need two plotting points for both equations..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the easiest points are 1) put x=0 and find y 2) put y= 0 and find x for \[2x-y=8\\ (0,?)\\ (?,0) \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we see that when \(x=0\), \(y = -8\) and when \(y=0\), \(x = 4\) so, we got our two points. (0,-8) (4,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

similarly, try for the second line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the given value (5,2) satisfies only the first eqn but not the second
