27 small cubes of size 1x1x1 are assembled into one large cube of size 3x3x3. How many small cubes does the plane orthogonal to the diagonal of the large cube cut ?

how exactly do you do it

Let's look at some key words here. We're dealing with 3D figures; orthogonal = perpendicular, forms a right angle; and diagonal of the large cube. I would recommend a picture, personally; visualizing always helps me. |dw:1367038961948:dw|

I thought this was just talking about a normal diagonal, in which case it would be three, but since it's a plane it would be the diagonal of the cube..I found the same question asked by someone else though: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/4f9e098fe4b000ae9ed27646

First of all for solving this question do you know the conception of : Solid Geometry ? And after doing that, I personally guarantee that you can on your own solve this particular question. I personally believe, the happiness of solving Mathematics is much better.
