OpenStudy (mertsj):

Good job!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank god

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Well...that is only the first part.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You have the number of places right. Now you have to figure out which direction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats all i needed in the prob

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So yes...the decimal has to be moved 5 places...which way...right or left?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Let's approach it a different way.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Is 0.000072 a big number or a little number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Little

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So when you write it in scientific notation, the exponent should be negative.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You moved the decimal 5 places to the right when you wrote 7.2. Now you have to "fix" that with your exponent. And the -5 says "move the decimal point 5 places to the left". That means you will have your original number back again. So you have not changed the number...only the form is which it is written.

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know the answer
