After flying for 19 min in a wind blowing 45 km/h at an angle of 21° south of east, an airplane pilot is over a town that is 54 km due north of the starting point. What is the speed of the airplane relative to the air, in km/h?

OpenStudy (austinl):

I have no idea how to set about this one, because this would mean that the wind has had no effect on the plane right?

You can calculate that velocity, right? Just distance divided by time. But that velocity has two components -- one from the wind, and one from the engines.
