What is the solution set of |x + 7| > 2? x > –9 or x < –5 x < –9 or x > –5 x > 9 or x < –5 x < 9 or x > –5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+7 > 2 => x > -5 -x-7 > 2 => -9 > x or x < -9 ans B

OpenStudy (nubeer):

k u have to divide them in 2 equations (x+7)> 2 and -(x+7)>2 now try solving each of the equation

@luckythebest this is a helping site not an answering site.. so avoid giving straight answers next time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x + 7 > 2 subtract 7 from each side x > -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-x - 7 > 2 Add 7 to each side -x > 9 then multiply each side by -1 x > -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right? @nubeer

OpenStudy (nubeer):

hm when u multiply or divide with a negative number u hae to flip the inequality sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so x < -9

OpenStudy (nubeer):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks(:

OpenStudy (nubeer):

:) glad to help
